Activities

At Lil’ Saints Preschool we provide an environment where students engage in intentional, investigative play. Opportunity is provided for children to participate in both self-directed and teacher-led activities throughout class time. Lil’ Saints students participate in a variety of creative activities planned around specific themes that are enhanced by Christian concepts and values. Children are also given the opportunity for creative exploration using a variety of materials for open ended activities. 

Throughout class time children have opportunity to develop problem solving skills and social skills during free choice play activities. Teachers offer support as needed to help children find appropriate resolutions to conflict and encourage critical thinking skills to enhance play. 

Lil’ Saints Preschool is a licensed preschool, operated as a ministry of Saints Church. While it is not a requirement for Lil’ Saints Preschool Families to be Christians or attendees of Saints Church, we invite Preschool Families to take advantage of the wide variety of available Saints Church Programs and Facilities. The staff of Lil’ Saints Preschool are committed Christians with a passion for teaching preschool age children. We endeavor to provide an environment where children feel safe and successful, where they can develop age-appropriate cognitive and critical thinking skills while also fostering each child’s love of learning and creativity.

At Lil’ Saints Preschool:

• There are NO mandatory fundraisers, parent duty days or toy cleaning requirements.

• We offer small child to staff ratios.

• We promote investigative, inquiry-based play in both self-directed and teacher lead activities.

• We encourage children to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills by engaging in science and math activities.

• We have access to a full-size gym with a variety of equipment for gross motor development.

• We are an Alberta Children’s Services licensed program.
  

Note: Children must turn 3 years old on or before December 31st of this year to enroll in our 3 year old program. Likewise children must turn 4 by December 31st of this year to enroll in our 4 year old program. Due to our ratio requirements from Children’s services, children can not attend until they turn 3 years old. Payment is required to hold their spot until they are able to attend.

Many students participate in a two year program as our 4 year old program builds from the curriculum in our three year old program. For example, our 3 year old program introduces the children to the different letters in the alphabet and their sounds, while our 4 year old program introduces them to phonics and pre-reading skills. We recommend taking advantage of both our programs as they work together to give your child the best start to their school career.

Lil’ Saints Preschool provides morning or afternoon classes for preschool children (three, four and five year olds).

Group 1: 3 Year Olds

Tuesday and Thursday mornings
 9:20 a.m. – 11:35 a.m.

Group 2: 4 Year Olds 

Monday and Wednesday mornings
 8:45 a.m. – 11:45 a.m.
Monday and Wednesday afternoons 
11:50 a.m. – 2:50p.m.
Monday and Wednesday afternoons 
12:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Tuesday and Thursday mornings
 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Tuesday and Thursday mornings 
9:10 a.m. – 12:10 p.m.

Registration

Participants must submit a $75.00 non-refundable Registration Fee upon registration.

Tuition

Lil’ Saints Preschool operates as a self-supporting and educational non-profit outreach of Saints Church Glastonbury. It is financed completely by tuition receipts.
Tuition fees are determined by a cost per instructional hour divided by 10 months of the school year. For the term September to June, tuition for each child is:

• Age 3 – $145.00 per month

• Age 4 – $190.00 per month

• Fees are not adjusted for non-attendance.

• There will be no refunds after May 1st.

Subsidy may be available by applying through the Alberta Government.

Admission

Enrollment numbers are limited to provide greater care and attention for each child. Children will be considered for admission based on:

• Their enrollment in the previous year

• First come – first served with a waiting list to be maintained

• Students may register for our 3 or 4 year old program. Our cutoff date is December 31st, which means children must be 4 years old by December 31st to enroll in our 4 year old program and likewise for our 3 year old program (3 years old by December 31st).

• Please note that we are licensed for 3-5 year olds. Students who have not turned 3 by the first day of class WILL NOT be permitted to start class until they have turned 3 years of age. Fees are not adjusted – fees are due each month to hold a student’s spot in that class.

• It is expected that each student will be fully toilet trained by the time he/she begins

We know that making the choice to send your child to Preschool during a pandemic is very difficult for many families. This school year may not look the same as we expected it to look, however, we are committed to upholding the same quality standards of a learning through play education that Lil’ Saints Preschool has come to be known for.

In addition this year, keeping our students, families and staff safe and healthy is our first priority. We are closely following the guidelines put forth by Alberta Health Services and Children’s Services to maintain safe practices.
