I LOVE the idea of the road less travelled. Sure, it's an old turn of phrase, but there is something magical about this thought. Innovating, doing something new, doing something that no one has ever thought of, changing the game, these ideas are so incredibly powerful. The the road less travelled is romantic, it's full of feelings of adventure and excitement, and just the thought of it causes our hearts to race faster, and our eyes to fill with wonder.

The reality of the road less travelled is that it is the road less travelled for a reason. It is pioneering, and not in the Oregon Trail Educational Video Game type of way. It is work. It is pain. It is moving in directions that nobody has thought of, and re-calibrating not only your way of thinking, but the thinking of everyone else you hope to take on this journey with you.

Don't get me wrong. This work is worth it. There is nothing more satisfying than being on the very precipice of something new. There is no better feeling than being a game-breaking, game-changing leader or entrepreneur, there is no greater feeling. One must understand though, that you won't always be understood. People will think you are crazy. You will think you are crazy. Doubt will be your greatest enemy, and hope will be your greatest ally.

One last post-it note to put on the fridge of your mind... to be an innovator, to travel that road, requires that you start walking down ANY road. You can't change the game if you aren't in it. You must start, and you must start today. It doesn't matter the idea, the field, the craft, whether you do it full time or no time or anytime, you must start today.

The hardest part of your journey, the biggest battlefield that you must cross is the decision that you are wrestling with today. If you want to change the world, you must move forward, you must begin, you have to get in the game to change the game. Regardless of where you are right now, ask yourself these three questions, and then set off down the road, any road, and you will soon discover that you are already on the road less travelled, because you actually decided to take that first step, and get on the road.

I shared more about this on Sunday, I'd love for you to have a listen and share your stories with me!
